Graham Mort lives in North Yorkshire and is Professor of Creative Writing and Transcultural Literature at Lancaster University and an Extraordinary Professor at the University of the Western Cape. He has worked on writing projects across sub-Saharan Africa and in Kurdistan. Visibility: New & Selected Poems, appeared from Seren in 2007, when he was also winner of the Bridport short story prize. A book of stories, Touch, was published by Seren in 2010 and won the Edge Hill Prize the following year. Black Shiver Moss, a new book of poems, was published by Seren in 2017. Fado and other stories, a new collection of short fiction will appear from Salt in 2020.

Saleel has published short stories and poetry; his work has included in the anthologies 20/30 Vision and The Redbeck Anthology of British South Asian Poetry. From 1993-1999 he was a member of the management committee of the Lancaster Literature Festival and was also on the LitFest’s Board of Directors. At the time he also reviewed art, music and theatre for Lancaster’s Off the Beat magazine. From 2012-2014 he was visiting editor of the (now defunct) online journal, OneTitle, for which he also reviewed novels and fiction. His short stories have also been read on BBC Radio Lancashire. As well as fiction and reviews, Saleel has published academic articles on 19th Century literature and is co-author of George Eliot, Judaism and the Novels.
